About 10 people were arrested by Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) for allegedly gambling during a funeral wake in Quezon city early Wednesday morning, Rod Vega reported for Super Radyo's DZBB.

The arrest was made less than a day after National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Chief Police Major General Debold Sinas announced that gambling during funeral wakes is not allowed.

Sinas had instructed cops to initially approach the family of the deceased and tell them to stop if they are having gambling activities during wake.

Sinas had said that if the family will not obey, then authorities will conduct a raid.

Philippine National Police chief Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa earlier had ordered an intensified operation against illegal gambling. — BAP, GMA News
